research productivity at a board meeting on June 27th.

Dr. Stefano was invited to give
lectures on Alzheimer's Disease and it's potential vascular initiation at
Lodz, Medical University, Poland (May 18th, 2011) and at the International
Neuroradiology meeting in K. Dolny, May 20th Poland.


Additionally, he gave workshops
on Grantsmanship and Patents on May 18th in Lodz,
as well as on May 21 in K. Dolney,Poland
and Prague, for the Medical Chamber of the Czech Republic
on May 24th.

Dr. George B. Stefano Visits the Medical University at Lodz
Dr. George Stefano was invited to visit the University of Lodz
as a result of his collaborations with Dr. Banach and Dr. Rysz
as noted by their recent publication (Banach M, Casares F, Kream RM,
Gluba A, Rysz J, Stefano GB. Morphine-mediated alteration of
hypertension-related gene expression in human white blood cells and
multilineage progenitor cells. J Hum Hypertens, 2010).
Dr. Stefano discussed issues related to program building at the
meeting with Drs. Banach, Rysz and President Gorski. It is the
group’s hope that relations can be strengthened in the future,
extending the programs to include other faculty.

Dr. George Stefano, Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute,
was selected to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award honoring
SUNY faculty members who have extended the boundaries of human
knowledge and driven the economic development of the state of New York.
This award was presented at a dinner held at the
University
of Albany on April 14, 2008.

Dr. Stefano has also been nominated for an award from the 1st
Medical School of Charles University in
Prague, and an award as well as a Doctor honoris causa
from the College of Health and Social Sciences at the
St.
Elisabeth
University
in Bratislava.
These awards will be presented in October.

2007

|
Dr. George Stefano, Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute,
was again elected to the Executive Committee of the
Research
Foundation of SUNY, as well as
Vice Chair
of the Board of Directors. He also serves as
the Chair of the Committee on Research for the Research Foundation
of SUNY.

Dr. Richard Kream and Kirk Mantione were recipients of a second
Empire Innovation Program award that Dr. Stefano received for
the NRI. The program funds new faculty hires at
New York's public universities based on
the amount of federal research grants they receive.

2006

|
On June 28, 2006,
Drs. Stefano and Zhu received honorable professorships at Beijing
China-Japan Friendship hospital. Dr. Shuqiang Xu, president of the
hospital, presented their awards and appointment letters.

Over 40 people, including Dr. Fan Bifa, head of the National
Center of Pain Management, attended the ceremony. Dr.
Stefano and Dr. Zhu will coordinate intellectual property and
research collaboration with the National Center of Pain
Management in China.

|
Dr. Stefano also received an honorary professorship at Peking University.
Dr. Ji Sheng Han, Professor of Neuroscience at Peking University
presented Dr. Stefano with his title and a gift.

Lithuania.

Dr. Stefano greets NY Governor George Pataki at the groundbreaking
ceremony for the Broad Hollow Bioscience Park (BHBP), in
Farmingdale, held on October 6, 2004. Dr. Stefano is on the Board of the BHBP,
a biotechnology research park developed on the campus of
Farmingdale State
University of New York, in conjunction with
Cold Spring Harbor
Laboratory (CSHL).

Dr. Stefano recently published a report in Neuroendocrinology
Letters with Dr. Tobias Esch on
the neurobiology of

Dr. Stefano received a First Patent award on November 4th, 2004, at
the State University Recognition Dinner Honoring Innovation,
Creation, and Discovery. His research has lead to many innovations,
but this night he was honored for his patent regarding methods for
identifying estrogen surface receptor agonists.

Dr. Tobias Esch, a frequent co-author with Dr. Stefano, traveled to
our campus and gave a lecture on Limbic Function to our staff and
students. At the time, Dr. Esch was on the staff at the Charité -
University Medicine Berlin, Institute for General and Family Medicine, in Berlin,
Germany.
